Rotary members, family and guests of the Concord, Capital City, Bow and Hopkinton Clubs gathered around the 4 foot “Cornhole Cup” to celebrate the conclusion of the 4th edition of the semi-annual Cornhole Tournament , graciously hosted again by Alan of Alan’s Restaurant.
Our District Leadership, DG Donna Deos and DGE Ruth Clough were our Guests of Honor, cheering on all the competitors.
After an orderly yet “energetic”( food .. and beverages were available , courteous of Alan’s exceptional Wait staff
) semi-final best-of-three match among the 4 Clubs, Concord took on Hopkinton in a winner-take-all “sudden death” playoff, attempting to reclaim the “Cup” from the two time defending Cornhole Champion powerhouse.
Concord outlasted Hopkinton , retrieved the “Cup” and the collective $750 purse to be donated to a charitable cause .
This recurring event , which has attracted increasing numbers of attendees was conceived two years ago with a dual purpose…to create an opportunity for Rotary members in the greater Concord area (and then some
) to meet to establish and maintain friendships while demonstrating a fellowship that is a hallmark of Rotary .
And this fourth occasion had a distinct international flair.
Felipe, an exchange student from Brazil, sponsored by the Concord Rotary and residing with a host family in Concord, competed on the Concord Club…

This event mirrored the motivation for Paul Harris’s very first Rotary meeting 121 years ago… i.e.,his desire to maintain the bond that existed among his friends and colleagues.
And in typical Rotary fashion, this event … an evening of fellowship, resulted in an end result of a financial donation to a charitable cause .
Rotary’s reason for being … helping people.
Doesn’t get any better .
