Friends Forever International
Jul. 19, 2022
Friends Forever International was founded in 1986 by a Rotarian, Bob Raiche. He brought a group of Catholic and Protestant young people from Northern Ireland for leadership programming in New Hampshire. [As he explains]For many years, we worked primarily in intergroup contact theory and working with areas experiencing conflict. Since then, we have transformed to focusing on leadership through individual community action and empowering young people to become the best versions of themselves so that their community can become the best version of itself. We cover all of their costs associated with programming and travel to ensure equity and access for young people looking to enhance their leadership skills. While they are with us they complete workshops under topics like communication, team building, identity, and public speaking. They also develop a speech to develop during their program that tells a piece of their story. After their program with us, they complete a social action project to address a need within their own community. Then they join our Global Alumni movement and can apply for opportunities like leading future teams! To provide more insight, here is the link for previous participant speeches and a video that explains our program a bit more. |
